The current skipper, Shaheen Shah Afridi, seems to be out of the loop. The PCB hasn’t officially discussed the captaincy change with him, leaving the young leader in the dark. This lack of transparency has raised eyebrows, with some former cricketers like Shahid Afridi questioning the fairness of removing Shaheen after just one series.

While Babar appears to be the favored choice, his past experiences might make him hesitant to take on the mantle again. The PCB is also considering wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan as a backup option if Babar declines.

Despite the captaincy question mark, Shaheen’s efforts for the T20 World Cup can’t be overlooked. During the recent PSL season, he actively planned for the World Cup and even played a key role in convincing veterans Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir to return to the national team.

Whether the PCB decides to stick with Shaheen or make a change, clear communication is crucial. Shaheen deserves to be kept informed throughout the process. The silence from the PCB has created unnecessary surprises and concerns within the cricketing world.

With the World Cup approaching, the PCB has a big choice to make. Will they back the young leader who has shown dedication to the team, or will they bring back the experienced Babar? Only time will tell who will lead Pakistan onto the field for the T20 World Cup.
