Sunil Narine, playing his 500th T20 match, knocked Royal Challengers Bengaluru out of the match in front of their home crowd.

He did drop the catch of Glenn Maxwell during bowling, but he was the one who first took Maxwell’s wicket and then missed a half-century in batting, due to his explosive batting, Kolkata scored 85 runs in the powerplay itself without losing any wicket. RCB had given Kolkata a target of 183, but Kolkata’s counterattack proved Virat Kohli’s unbeaten innings of 83 runs unsuccessful. Although Kolkata’s innings slowed down for a while after Narine’s dismissal, Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer together took Kolkata across the line.

The biggest turning point in this match was Narayan’s aggressive innings but Maxwell’s wicket was also a big turning point in this match because Maxwell had already got two lives and if he had not been sent to the pavilion, Bengaluru could have scored a big score. After Maxwell’s dismissal, the pace of RCB’s innings slowed down and Kolkata had a target that could be achieved.
